Caulophyllum thalictroides is a native North American woodland perennial. Growing 12-24 inches tall, this species features compound, blue-green leaves and unusual, bluish-green flowers/fruit. Blue Cohosh prefers consistently moist, well-drained, humus-rich soils in partial shade to full shade conditions. It is naturally found in rich, deciduous forests and other woodland habitats. In the landscape, Caulophyllum thalictroides makes an excellent choice for shaded garden beds and borders. Its lush, finely-textured foliage provides visual interest throughout the growing season, while the unusual flowers and blue-green fruit add seasonal highlights.
