Why Like Common Buckthorn was introduced to North America as an ornamental tree in the early 1800s, but it has invasively naturalized into much of the northeast and midwest US. It is a tolerant tree once used as a hedge, privacy screen, and windbreak. Birds love the fruit. Long spiky thorns!
