Description

Carex lacustris is a native North American sedge that forms large, dense clumps. Growing 2-3 feet tall, this species features wide, blue-green leaf blades and distinctive, cylindrical flower/fruit spikes.

Lake Sedge prefers consistently wet, boggy soils in full sun to partial shade conditions. It is naturally found in shallow marshes, lake margins, and other wetland habitats. C. lacustris is valued for its ability to tolerate standing water and provide erosion control.
