In winter, the woods are relatively quiet, but the trees can still be stunning especially when covered by snow, or illuminated by the morning and evening sun. In the evening, the hooting of the great horned owls echos through the woods. At the end of winter, often by March, the first wildflowers like Winter Aconite start to bloom.
